They/Them/Self
A downloadable project
A one-second video, part of the One-Off Moving Image Festival's "Mirror Me" exhibition, which explores the concept of non-binary selfhood and its often misunderstood they/them pronoun. An infinite mirror combined with a phone camera "selfie" serve as a metaphor for the public assumption of gender based solely on appearance, how this impacts one's sense of identity, and the ways that this can force non-binary people to inhabit multiple conflicting gender roles simultaneously.
