Into the River
A downloadable project
Inspired by Alvin Lucier's "I Am Sitting In a Room", this piece uses simultaneous recording and playback layered with river sounds, enabling users to "throw" recordings and/or live audio into the "water", where they deteriorate by time and body motion. Among the included recordings to be "thrown" is Alvin Lucier's own voice reciting Langston Hughes poem, "Suicide's Note", generated by the artist through splicing audio clips of interviews with Lucier in Audacity software.
