A downloadable project

An exploration of the power of speech versus silence,  and the contradictions between auditory and silent (written) language.  The piece consists of a sound-activated blender, a microphone, and blank slips paper with pens.  The audience is invited to write/draw anything they would like on a slip of paper, then insert it into the blender and speak into the microphone to destroy it.  The use of the voice to destroy written words, and doing so in a medium that invites, yet refuses, consumption, is a meditation on the ways in which we may erase what is written, but cannot ever truly erase the impact of what has been said.
